May Fiddle Club Meeting - Special Time, Special Place, Special Event

Our monthly workshop for May is unusual in many respects.

We're integrated with the Upper Potomac Cape Breton Music Weekend, held May 10-12, 2024 at Shepherd's Spring Retreat in Sharpsburg MD.

The weekend is an extravaganza of Cape Breton music, focusing on fiddle, pipes, and piano, though other instruments are welcome. The teachers include luminaries of Cape Breton music Wendy MacIsaac, Troy MacGillivray, and Barry Shears, as well as your own Elke Baker. The whole thing begins on Friday, May 10, with concert and jam sessions, and continues Saturday and Sunday with classes in Cape Breton Style fiddle, piano, piping, step dance, and ensemble playing, and music ranging from slow tunes to dance tunes of all descriptions. So...a few unusual things about fiddle club this month:

* STARTS at 1:30 instead of our regular time.

* LOCATION: Shepherd's Spring Retreat, 16869 Taylors Landing Rd, Sharpsburg MD 21782

* Upper Potomac Music Retreats is requesting pre-registration for the event. Yes, you can register for the Fiddle Club meeting only, as well as part or all of the other weekend activities. * We will be streaming the Fiddle Club workshop as usual, but are entirely unsure of our wifi access at site. We may not be able to stream it live. If so, it will be posted at the Fiddle Club YouTube channel for later viewing, as soon as we can manage it.

* No dinner and jam session this time :-( since the retreat center is unable to stay open later.
